Perfect excuse for cake

Not that we need one πŸ˜€ – but my blog turned two this week:

Chocolate Cake

And far more significantly, Dave and I are celebrating the 16th anniversary of our marriage (today) and wedding (tomorrow), so this goes out with a huge hug and kiss to the husband of my dreams . . . and to all the great cyber friends who have made this blogging journey such a joy!

On the subject of marriage and blogging, here are two quotes to consider:

“Marriage is more than the sum of its parts.” – Unknown

“A blog is merely a tool that lets you do anything from change the world to share your shopping list.” – Unknown

My apologies for neglecting not only this space lately, but also all of your beautiful blogs. Photography, commissioned writing, and the start of Race Season has taken precedence. Hopefully, though, things will settle down soon – after the national enduro in Lesotho perhaps, which we leave for tomorrow πŸ˜‰

  6. nrhatch says:

    Congratulations on your milestones!

Why separate days to celebrate your marriage and your wedding? Didn’t you get married on your wedding day?

    • Naomi says:

      Thanks a ton, Nancy!

The priest we chose for our wedding ceremony was recently ordained and not yet qualified to marry us, so a close friend of my father’s married us officially in court the day before. He took special care in between his other legal duties, and still the official exchange took all of two minutes. Being a lawyer, you may find it interesting that we met some foreigners getting married there (in Cape Town) too, because our SA regulations made it so relatively simple. I’m not sure if the procedures remain the same today.

    • nrhatch says:

Thanks, I thought that might be it ~ a civil ceremony followed by a wedding celebration.

Of course, that entitled you both to TWICE the cake and TWICE the presents.

Have a terrific time today and throughout the coming year.

Congratulations Naomi, I like your post because it feels fresh and not 16 years old!! Oh my, you have to fill me in the secrets for that πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
Don’t worry about abandoning us – because you did not seem to, and in any case, we are not going to do that to you..!!
Enjoy the enduro (not going to lie, had to look it up), hope you enjoy the break!

    • Naomi says:

LOL! I should hope the cake doesn’t look old. It was fresh on the day of posting, and totally delicious (home-made by someone else) πŸ˜€

As for secrets, there may be one which involves enduro (sorry for not clarifying) and other racing: extreme sport and the associated risks make for extreme appreciation of every moment together πŸ˜‰

THANKS for the fabulous support – you’re the best, Rachana!

  13. Kim says:

Congratulations to your second anniversary πŸ™‚

We’re very fortunate to be able to travel as we do. Taking photo’s is one of the ways to savour every moment and prolong the pleasure, so thank you for appreciating them, xo
